The Lector gives voices to God's presence in the Liturgy of the Word by proclaiming the Holy Scriptures. An initial training session is required and is offered during the fall of each year. Preparation time of prayer, study and practice are needed for each scheduled reading.
Individuals with an openness to the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, a desire to study and discern the meanings of the Holy Scripture and who possess vocal agility to bring alive the power and beauty of God's word are encouraged to respond to this calling.
Lectors rotate through an assigned schedule, usually reading one time per month at the mass of their choosing.
